True wealth is not just about the accumulation of paper money – Awosanya

Nigerian realtor and human rights activist, Segun Awosanya, recently tweeted that true wealth isn’t just about the accumulation of paper money.

According to him, it is too shallow to limit wealth to only making money, because there are better ways true wealth can be truly defined. He also opined that the absence of imagination can be “traumatic” because it can stagnate in productivity and ultimately lead to abject poverty.

True wealth has nothing to do with the accumulation of paper money. Lack of imagination can be traumatic thus impeding productivity/fruitfulness & landing you in Poverty.

He continued by tweeting that if money is the only possession one has, then the individual is as good as impoverished.

If money is all that you have, you are still poor.

Why it matters – The saying “some people are so poor, all they have is money” is very apt in this situation. Indeed, it is important for everyone to always bear in mind that money is not the only measure of greatness. Moreover, there are many other factors that determine wealth.

Therefore, just as one focuses on making money, they should also enrich their minds, thoughts, and activities as it also speaks volume about the individual.

Nigerians reacted

Many of those who reacted to Mr Awosanya’s tweet agreed with him. According to a particular comment, some people focus so much on earning money and forget to map out their retirement plan. Others lack imagination as to how to make their money work for them.

This is why some Salary-earners hit rock bottom after retirement or retrenchment. They don’t know how ideate & create wealth outside the walls of their office.

Another follower of Segun, however, noted that money can never be eliminated from the scheme of things, as far as wealth creation is concerned.

That is correct sir however enroute to wealth is need and demand for money which is the oxygen to give life to all ideas and imagination. Gates has expended quite a fortune in pursuit of developing alternative power to drive the future generations and technology.

It is also important to mention that poverty doesn’t necessarily stop once one make money. After all, the more money you have, the more problems you need to solve.

Therefore, the ideal kind of wealth Segun might be pointing out is the need to not just being rich, but also impactful. And one of the ways to do this is by helping others around to benefit from the riches.
