Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce have been linked with an unlikely move for Mesut Ozil, via a report in Turkey. Fotospor report that Fener president Ali Koc is keen on bringing Ozil to Fenerbahce in January.
The 29-year-old, who recently retired from international action with Germany, is a Fenerbahce fan and has previously stated his desire to play in Turkey later in his career. “Everyone knows I am a Fenerbahçe fan,” Ozil told the Turkish outlet Sabah in the summer of 2015
It’s a bold claim by Fotospor though with Fener currently being monitored by UEFA for Financial Fair Play. They would struggle to get a transfer fee together for Ozil, never mind pay him the wages Arsenal do. Ozil agreed a new £350,000 a week deal at the start of the year and he has another three years to run on his contract.
