The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has suspended its strike. National President of the Congress Ayuba Wabba, disclosed this at a press briefing in Abuja. According to him, the decision was taken to enable the committee mandated to set the wage, reconvene on October 4.
The union had earlier given the Federal Government a two-week ultimatum to complete deliberations on the new minimum wage or face a strike action. President Muhammadu Buhari, had in November 2017, inaugurated the National Wage Committee led by former minister and Head of Service, Ama Pepple in order to recommend a new minimum wage.
