Mass defection behind Buhari’s emergency vacation – Rep Gyang

The Member representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Istifanus Gyang has said the gale of defection by the ruling APC members to the opposition PDP is one of the reasons President Muhammadu Buhari had to go on emergency vacation for ten days in the United Kingdom. According to Gyang, President Buhari was arrested by the fever of defection by the prominent APC members who have returned to their real home, the Peoples Democratic Party, and had sent him on compulsory vacation, before the final vacation, come 2019.

The lawmaker disclosed this while presenting his letter of intention to contest for the Plateau Northern Senatorial seat during the 2019 general elections. He said, “After the National Chairman of PDP came out publicly and asked for forgiveness from Nigerians, after that open repentance to all Nigerians, God now visited the PDP with His mercy and said because I have forgiven you, I will showcase you as my own to Nigerians.

“And how did he start it? The greatest wave of defections that have never been witnessed in Nigeria in one day took place in the National Assembly. “The defection shook APC that up till now that I am telling you, they have not recovered. It shook them that they are yet to stabilise”, he explained. “As a result of the wave of defections, the President had to hurry and took a ten-day leave to recover from the shock”, he stressed.

He assured that if given the mandate to represent the zone in the Senate, he will continue with the good work he is doing in the House of Representatives. In his remarks, the Chairman of the party in the State, Hon. Damishi Sango, who was represented by his Deputy, Hon. Amos Gombi assured the lawmaker that the party will provide a level playing ground for all candidates.

He said the era of impunity in the party was gone and commended the lawmaker for his effective representation in the House of Representatives.
