Here Are 4 Rules To Follow When Dieting

We’re back and this time we’re talking about four simple, but highly effective rules loop  follow these, you can feel confident that you’re on the right track.

It doesn’t matter if you’re on the ketogenic diet, the intermittent fasting diet, the zone diet, or some other diet that you’ve decided to go on, if you use these rules, you will see the results you are looking for.

So the question now becomes, why aren’t’ you following them? 

Here’s what you need to know. 

Be Patient

Okay, let’s start with the boring rule – the one everyone is going to groan at. It’s important that whatever diet you are on, you do practice patience. I know, easier said than done. 

But here’s the thing you need to know. Without patience, you’re going to be that much quicker to give up when things don’t appear to be going your way. Creating changes in your body takes time. You didn’t gain 20 pounds overnight, so you aren’t going to lose 20 pounds overnight either. You need to be ready to let the process unravel and keep up a constant effort.

If you expect overnight results on any diet, you are on board for a bad ride ahead. It isn’t going to happen and you’ll become incredibly frustrated. 

Furthermore, if you happen to be on a diet that is promising you will see results overnight (or nearly overnight), that’s your first sign that the diet isn’t optimal or valid. 

Choose a different diet that will actually deliver. 

Listen To Your Body 

Next, listen to your body. This is a hard one for many people because most of us like rules. We like to know that we should eat A food at B time and that’s that. We want to take the thought process out of it. But that thought is important in order to keep you on your diet plan and doing the right thing.

Sometimes, you are hungrier and you do need to eat more. It can be hard to understand, but it’s something that has to be done. In fact, when you are feeling starving all the time, this is a sign that the body may be downregulating quite a bit and actually eating more calories could do you a world of good, enabling your metabolism to run faster and you to see superior progress. 

Other things, you may be tired and need to just sleep more. Skipping the gym and going to bed early may be the smart move.  Note this shouldn’t happen allthe time, but when your body is really just begging for rest, don’t force it to keep going. 

Nothing good will ever come of that. 

Expect A Bit Of Struggle 

Next, it’s important that you do expect a bit of a struggle. If you expect everything to go smoothly, again, you will be in for a disappointment. Too many people think that dieting should just be easy, but that isn’t the case. You are in fact eating fewer calories than you normally eat and this is going to cause some changes to take place.

Hunger, irritability, fatigue – these are all normalprocesses of dieting. If you expect to diet without those, you should probably not diet at all. No plan is going to rid you of those completely at all times. Some plans may do a better job at others in terms of controlling these issues, but you’re never going to be completely without them. 

Always Keep Health In Mind 

Finally, it’s also important that you always keep health in mind. If you follow this golden rule, you will be set. You simply can’t go wrong thinking about health. If you choose healthy foods over unhealthy foods, your appetite level will naturally decrease, your energy will be higher, and you’ll be feeling better overall because you now have the nutrition your body needs to keep itself in a good place.

Just know that if your diet is telling you that you can’t eat certain healthy foods (such as certain vegetables for instance), chances are, this is not a good diet to be on in the long run. 

Usually it’s when people start putting weight loss ahead of health that problems come in. Sure, if you have 2-3 pounds to lose and want to use that quick-fix diet before you hit the beach during the coming weekend, give it a try. You likely won’t see any harm. But don’t expect those pounds to stay off for good. Chances are they will be right back where they were a few days later.

If you want long-term long-lasting success and plan to lose 5 pounds or more, you simply need a diet plant that you can sustain over the long haul without trouble.
