Gunners’ long unbeaten run comes to end

Charlie Austin’s 85th-minute header saw Southampton inflict a first defeat in 23 games on Arsenal as Saints ran out 3-2 winners on new manager Ralph Hasenhuttl’s first home game in charge.

In a pulsating match at St Mary’s, Danny Ings’ double either side of Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s header made it 2-1 at half-time.

Mkhitaryan then levelled the game when his left-footed strike deflected off Jannik Vestergaard, however, substitute for Ings Charlie Austin latched onto Shane Long’s brilliant cross from the right and headed the ball to give Southampton the win.
