Fidelity Bank Plc has confirmed that its CCTV footage captured a man stealing a bag from a locker at its branch at Admiralty Way, Lekki area of Lagos State.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, the lender stated that its attention had been drawn to the footage which went viral on the social media space. According to Fidelity Bank, the incident happened on Monday, July 8, 2019.
The bank, however, disclosed that it is working closely with the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), to ensure that the culprit is apprehended and brought to justice.
Fidelity Bank Plc also assured the affected customer whose bag was stolen, that it will do everything necessary within its capacity to provide him relief.
The Genesis: A social media user identified as Val Obil, had taken to Instagram to lament how his bag was stolen at the bank’s branch around 11:40 am, despite the presence of security officials at the bank’s premises.
Obil claimed he had visited the bank on Monday and had kept his bag in a locker and locked the door with the key given to him by one of the security officials.
Surprisingly for him, after performing the transactions he went to the bank for, he discovered that he could no longer open the locker with the key given to him. He immediately called the attention of the security officials, who helped him open it with another key.
Having accessed the locker with another key, Obil said his bag which contained some valuable items was missing.
In the video shared on his page, Obil promised a N200,000 reward for anyone who can provide useful information on the thief who was displayed on the CCTV footage.
