Manchester City must pay Inigo Martinez’s £28.5million release clause in full if they want to sign him this January. Pep Guardiola is looking to add a centre-back to his squad this month and he has earmarked the Real Sociedad star as a potential purchase. Martinez was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona in the summer and he is regarded as one of the best defenders in Spain.
However, according to Sport, if Manchester City want to sign him they must pay £28.5m. That is the 26-year-old’s current release clause and Sociedad are refusing to let him go for anything less. Barcelona called off a move in the summer after finding out his price tag was non-negotiable.
