Chelsea have revived their interest in AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli, according to reports in Italy. The 23-year-old centre-back, considered one of the most talented young defenders in Italian football, has been regularly linked with a move away from Milan.
Antonio Conte had been linked with bringing Romagnoli to Stamford Bridge back in 2016 and the Blues were rumoured to be monitoring him closely again last summer. And now, according to Leggo, Chelsea scouts have been watching the Italian closely again in recent weeks, with an eye on securing a permanent deal for the centre-half at the end of the season.
Although Conte’s future remains unclear, the Blues are expected to ramp up their interest in Romagnoli in the summer as they target defensive reinforcements. Romagnoli has a contract until 2023 with the San Siro giants but could well be tempted by an offer from another of Europe’s biggest names.
