Trevor Sinclair, a former Manchester City star, has berated Cristiano Ronaldo over what he described as a coward’s challenge on Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne during Manchester United’s 2-0 loss on Saturday.
Ronaldo cut a frustrated figure once again as Manchester United were played off the park by City in the same manner they were beaten 5-0 by Liverpool two weeks ago.
Sinclair believes the Portugal international was taking his anger out on City players with a late tackle on the Belgian.
De Bruyne was already on the deck when Ronaldo came sliding in – and the Portugal captain was shown a yellow card for his challenge.
“That’s a cheap one,” Sinclair told talkSPORT.
“The challenge initially went in from Fernandes, and as he’s down on the floor after being fouled, Ronaldo launches into that.
“I know it’s only one foot, but he’s jumped in with his studs showing. I thought it was a little bit naughty.
“It’s a little bit of frustration, but it’s not OK. I hope De Bruyne is OK because it’s a really poor challenge
“It’s a coward’s challenge. He’s got away with a couple, the one with Curtis Jones as well.
“He’s got a temper because he’s a winner. He doesn’t like losing.”
