Townsend hails Pogba after equaling Fabregas, Bergkamp, Reyes’ records

Paul Pogba has been hailed by former Premier League star, Andy Townsend, after the Frenchman showed his class with four outstanding assists in Manchester United’s emphatic 5-1 win against Leeds United on Saturday.

Pogba’s assists led to goals from Fred, Mason Greenwood and two for Bruno Fernandes, who scored a hat-trick.

Four assists in one match equals a record set only by six other players: Cesc Fabregas, Dennis Bergkamp, Jose Antonio Reyes, Santi Cazorla, Emmanuel Adebayor, and Dusan Tadic.

Pogba’s four assists this afternoon means that he has surpassed his total for last season.

Townsend was lauded on talkSPORT, saying, “I have always been a fan of this guy.

“You’ve got to live with the fact he will lose the ball in his own half every now and again, he will get caught on it, he will do things that raise eyebrows.

“But what he can do is split the defence open with a perfectly-weighted pass, right into someone’s feet.

“Pogba can do things at the top of the field that most can only dream about. I don’t see Man United wining things if he’s sat on the bench watching.”
