Ex-senator implicating suspended Dansadau Emir in banditry – Umar

The Waziri of Dansadau Emirate, Alhaji Mustapha Umar, has condemned the alleged plot by a former senator, Saidu Muhammed Dansadau, to implicate the Emir of Dansadau Emirate in bandit attacks in the area.

In an interview, Umar said the erstwhile senator spends a year without visiting the emirate, “but now ignorantly speaking on issues he knows nothing about”.

He accused Senator Saidu of masterminding massive killings of Fulani in collaboration with the outlawed militia vigilante group, popularly known as “Yan Sakai”, but maliciously informed the government that Emir of Dansadau was responsible for the mayhem.

This, according to him led to the constitution of a powerful investigation committee by the state government to probe the matter, “but to our great surprise the same man, in collaboration with our member Zamfara State House of Assembly, Alhaji Kabiru Hashimu, mobilised some people and his families and stormed the State House Of Assembly protesting and calling on the government to depose the Emir.”

“Senator Dansadau has his own gang of Yansakai which he manipulates to attack the Fulani Community within Dansadau Emirate, and when the Fulani community launches a reprisal attack, the same person will come out and blame the Emir for reasons best known to himself.”

“If you could remember during the tenure of former governor Abdul Aziz Yari, the then governor of Zamfara State declared as illegal for any vigilante group to hold meeting without the consent of the government and security personnel, but the same Senator mobilised some vigilante group at Yar Galadima village, held a secret meeting, just as embittered Fulani men attacked, killing hundreds of them and the people of the area” he said.

He questioned why a person collaborating with Yansakai to attack innocent Fulani communities leading to reprisals could unjustifiably implicate the Emir of having a hand in aiding bandits in the entire Emirate.

Umar however appealed to Governor Bello Muhammed Matawalle to be wary of Senator Dansadau, as “he is a man with selfish interest in any worldly affairs, adding that all former governors of Zamfara state knew him with his malicious selfish interest.”

Umar also commended Governor Matawalle for securing and mobilising NAF fighter jets and troops to Dansadau area and whose combined operations led to relative peace in the entire Emirate.

The residence of senator Saidu Dansadau for reaction, he was not available and all efforts to contact him through his mobile number proved abortive as the two lines were not responding.
