Alexis Sanchez is not in the Manchester United squad because of a ‘little problem’ according to Jose Mourinho. The Red Devils travelled to the the south coast for their Sunday afternoon clash with Brighton and Hove Albion – losing 3-2
Much of the furore before the game was surrounding Sanchez’s omission from the matchday squad, with no official injury news given in the week. However, Mourinho was quick to assure fans it was a minor issue. He said: “Alexis was going to play but he had a little problem, so we had to decide to give an opportunity to another attacking player.” In his place, Anthony Martial was given the nod alongside Romelu Lukaku up front at the Amex.
The France international, who missed out on a place in Didier Deschamps’ World Cup squad altogether, has endured a tough start to the season already. He was fined £180,000 by the club for failing to return to pre-season in time – despite attending the birth of his child.
