Ferdinand claims Jose Mourinho could be sacked

Former Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand has warned that Jose Mourinho’s future will be up for discussion following the side’s 3-1 loss at West Ham. United succumbed to goals from Felipe Anderson, Victor Lindelof (og) and Marko Arnautovic, rendering Marcus Rashford’s second half strike irrelevant.

In his role as a BT pundit, Ferdinand expressed his frustrations with the team, manager and club hierarchy. “As a footballer your DNA is about hard work and effort,” he explained, “I didn’t see that today. “I didn’t see them make two or three passes in succession – that’s criminal. “I don’t see enough players working hard to say to the manager ‘this is my place in the team’.

“You’ve got to work hard and grind and Man United didn’t. There are some big decisions to be made at United now. “There will be conversations at the top level, about the future of the manager and the squad, because the basics are not being done. “There has to be something said.” The 39-year-old continued: “I believe powers be at this football club have a decision to make. “It’s getting too much. All the little wars in the dressing room, the stories leaking out in the press.
