Cech stretchered off and replaced by Bernd Leno

Petr Cech was stretchered off against Watford as the Arsenal man picked up a reported hamstring injury. Shortly after taking a goal kick, the former Chelsea man was left writhing in agony on the turf shortly before the half time whistle.

In his place, Bernd Leno came off the bench to make his Premier League debut for the Gunners since his summer move. Despite attention from medics, the former Czech Republic No.1 was left unable to continue.

Leno, who played 90 minutes in Wednesday’s 3-1 Carabao Cup win against Brentford, stayed on the pitch at half-time to warm up. The German’s only other game for Arsenal came in the 4-2 Europa League win over Vorskla Poltava earlier this month.

The Arsenal captain made sure to give the armband to Aaron Ramsey before leaving the pitch, with rumours of wanting to leave next year on a free clearly not coming into play. Boss Unai Emery refused to be drawn into discussions over the Wales international’s future ahead of the clash with the Hornets.
