Arsenal are in hot pursuit of Barcelona starlet Jose Arnaiz and could even make a bid for him in the January transfer window, according to reports in Spain. Arnaiz only joined the Catalan club in the summer, signing from second division side Real Valladolid in a €3.5million deal. The 22-year-old forward currently plays for Barca B, who also play in the second tier, but has a buy-out clause of €20million.
And, according to reports Arsenal have been tracking the Spanish starlet’s progress and are keen to bring him to the Emirates Stadium. The Spanish sports newspaper claims the Premier League side have launched a ‘serious pursuit’ of the youngster and are even considering paying his €20m release clause. Marca adds that the Gunners are so keen on signing the up-and-coming star that they could launch their bid as soon as January.
Arnaiz has impressed with six goals and four assists for Barca B this season. He was given his first call up to Barcelona’s senior team in the Copa del Rey in October, where he scored in both legs in their 8-0 aggregate win over Murcia.
